I co-hosted a comedy open mic called Manic Pixie Dream Mic. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, a “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” is a man’s fabrication. In a review of Elizabethtown in 2005, a Manic Pixie Dream Girl was used to describe Kristen Dunst’s one-dimensional character who:

“exists solely in the fevered imagination of sensitive writer-directors to teach broodingly soulful young men to embrace life and its infinite mysteries and adventures”

Our mic dismantled this caricature entirely.
